Genealogical Research and Requests

The Historical Society welcomes family history researchers during our regular hours Sundays 1-4 PM in July through September, or by appointment during the rest of the year. If you are traveling far or need assistance in your research, we encourage you to make an appointment.

We accept written requests. When writing to us, please be brief, but include as much pertinent information as possible.

Please submit your written request by filling in the online form “Ask a Question.” Alternatively, you can write to us at:  Poultney Historical Society, PO Box 605, East Poultney VT 05741. Please include stamped self-addressed return envelope if using snail mail.

Our volunteers will do up to one hour of research for Historical Society members at no cost. Thereafter, any research can be done for a $20 per hour fee. If for some reason your request involves more time or resources outside of our society, we will advise you. Photocopies are available at 25 cents per page.

As the museum library is often inaccessible during snowy winter months, we ask that you please be patient with our volunteers during this time.
